First victory of the season for the Bardiani-CSF 7 Saber rider, who won the Songjiang–Qingpu stage after spending the day in the breakaway. Tarozzi also moves into the lead of the general classification.

Manuele Tarozzi won the second stage of the Tour of Shanghai – New Cities, the 94.8-kilometre Songjiang–Qingpustage. The rider from Faenza joined the breakaway in the opening kilometres and, as the leading group gradually became more selective, continued his move all the way to the finish.

In the finale, with the peloton misjudging the timing of the chase, Tarozzi successfully defended his advantage, taking the victory 10 seconds ahead of the runner-up and 30 seconds ahead of the peloton.

It is the first victory of the season for the Bardiani-CSF 7 Saber rider. The result also moves Tarozzi into first place in the general classification ahead of the final stage.

Manuele Tarozzi:
“It was a very intense day. I joined the breakaway right from the start and, as the kilometres went by, the group at the front became more selective. In the finale, I realised we had a chance to make it and I gave everything all the way to the finish. I’m very happy with this victory and also to have taken the lead in the general classification.”

Tomorrow, Sunday, September 6, the Tour of Shanghai – New Cities will conclude with the 100.2-kilometre Fengxian–Nanhui stage.
