The Tour of Hainan 2026 gets underway with a positive result for Bardiani-CSF 7 Saber, who featured prominently in the opening stage with Enrico Zanoncello finishing seventh at the Danzhou finish line.

The first stage, marked by a high pace and numerous breakaway attempts in the early phases, came down to a bunch sprint. After the peloton controlled the various moves from afar, all attacks were brought back in the final kilometers, setting up the sprint finish.

In a hectic finale, also marked by two crashes in the last 3 kilometers, Zanoncello handled his positioning well, staying near the front and launching his sprint from a good position to finish seventh.
