CZECH TOUR: FILIPPO TURCONI FOURTH AT JEŠTĚD, DOUBLE TOP 10 FOR BARDIANI-CSF 7 SABER.

Filippo Turconi narrowly misses the podium in stage two and moves up to fourth place in the general classification. Luca Covili finishes sixth and is also sixth overall. Turconi is second in the young riders classification.

A double Top 10 for Bardiani-CSF 7 Saber in the second stage of the Czech Tour, the 155-kilometre Mladá Boleslav–Ještěd stage, which featured the first uphill finish of the race.

Filippo Turconi confirmed his strong form after his seventh place in the opening stage, finishing the day in fourth position, seven seconds behind winner Andrew August. Luca Covili also delivered a strong performance, crossing the line in sixth place and completing the team’s double Top 10.

A crash with around five kilometres remaining ruled Alex Tolio, Mattia Stenico, Santiago Cruz and Matteo Turconiout of contention for the leading positions.

After two stages, Filippo Turconi sits fourth in the general classification, 17 seconds behind the race leader, and is second in the young riders classification, behind August. Luca Covili is sixth overall.

Filippo Turconi:
“I’m happy with the result and especially with the work the team did throughout the stage. In the finale I was able to play my cards and fourth place is a good result. I’m sorry for my teammates who were involved in the crash: it’s always difficult to see part of the team taken out of contention like that, especially after the work we had done together during the day.”
